Arctos Trading (PTY) Limited
The face of mining in Africa is changing rapidly and is becoming increasingly complex. More so than ever, the competition for strategic resources is critical to the economic growth of the emerging economies as they posture to challenge the suzerainty of the long established developed states. South Africa has been an important business destination for WWG since last 15 years and has been identified as one of the key international destinations for future growth by WWG. With growing familiarity and strengthening business expertise in this territory, WWG expanded into the mining sector in 2011 by establishing Arctos Trading (PTY) Limited. There are now 2 fully operational coal mines with around 15 million ton of coal reserves. The mining segment is expected to grow further to include minerals like manganese, iron ore, chrome and copper.
Arctos Trading (PTY) Limited is the highlight of WWG’s South African journey. The company is supported by a team of highly experienced and talented individuals sourced from the mining industry. The company's first venture into the South African continent was the acquisition of greenfield coal mines in the Mpumalanga Province, located in the Bethal district. The project is located in proximity to several coal-fired power stations and has road, rail and power infrastructure running within 50 kilometres of the project. Together with the global demand for coal (rising by an annual average of 4%), this mine is set to be highly profitable.
